Welcome to the Safari hats Store —
The largest assortment of safari hats on the internet
We've been planning safaris to Africa since 1975. So we've worn a few safari hats in our time. Here are some simple tips to keep in mind when choosing the right safari hat for you.
- Look for a safari hat that provides shade all around your head and neck. Baseball hats don't work because they leave your neck exposed to the hot sun.
- Find a safari hat with vents and breathable material. Your head produces the most body heat. If the heat can't escape you'll quickly become uncomfortable.
- A good safari hat should repel rain water and also absorb perspiration.
- You need to pack light on safari. Find a crushable safari hat that will easily retain it's shape when worn.
- A safari hat with a chin strap is a wise decision. It's easy for hats to blow off in safari vehicles and you don't want fetch your hat from a pride of lions.
- When selecting your safari hat, choose an earthtone color. Bright colors are not an issue with predators such as lions & leopards (they see monochromatically). But they can be problematic with other animals such as elephants.
- Along with a safari hat, we highly recommend a pair of clear safety glasses for night drives. It's too dark for sunglasses and you'll want to protect your eyes from dust, branches and bugs. You can purchase them in our accessories section.
